Spring break is here for most of the country and many of you are looking for the ideal experience to cap off the winter season. At Kirks Mountain Adventures, we have you covered. No matter what time of year you come to the Rocky Mountains, you are guaranteed to have an amazing time. There is just something about being in the mountains, particularly this time of year, that can really have an impact on a person. The glistening snow, the crisp mountain air, and that John Denver song that is always in your head, this is true Colorado, the stuff you see on beer commercials. As John Muir says, “the mountains are calling and I must go”, and this year, it is time to listen.
If you have never been snowshoeing we can describe it like this – it’s like walking, on the snow, with really big shoes. Really,t is that easy. Snowshoeing is one of the most popular outdoor activities that brings people up to Rocky Mountain National Park in the winter. The best part about winter up here is that the crowds are considerably smaller than those that throng the park in the summer. Of course, how many people you see in RMNP is all relative to where you decide to spend your time. Trekking into the backcountry and away from the crowds is the ultimate Colorado experience and Kirks Mountain Adventures specializes in you off the beaten path. At Kirks, we offer a wide range of snowshoeing packages for just about every fitness level. Unless, of course, you are one of those people that like to run hundreds of miles in the snow, in that case you are on your own. Check out our three, six,or eight hour excursions, complete with lunch (or snacks for the 3 hour trip) and let us show you a piece of Rocky Mountain National Park that some see only in pictures.
What if you want to go snowshoeing but are not ready to commit to an eight hour slog, at Kirks, we proudly rent a variety of gear for any adventure you are planning. All you have to do is stop by the store and we can set you up with a pair of snowshoes, poles, and boots if you need them. You can then feel free to explore any of the incredible trails in the park. But, what if your idea of roughing it is settling for regular milk in your latte instead of nut milk? We have you covered, we are considering offering the social media rental package; where you get transportation to and from a snow filled parking lot, not far from Estes Park. We put you in full gear and let you take some selfies. We are sure that there would be a market but we honestly can’t bring ourselves to do it.
Regardless of how you would like to experience winter in the Colorado Rockies, Kirks has you covered, heck, we can even lend you our John Denver cassette for the afternoon. So, give us a call this spring break, either for your late winter snowshoe trip or a summer hiking adventure. We can’t wait to show you our Rocky Mountain backyard!
